American food in Singapore: brisket, bagels and the Monday-morning Super Bowl

Updated 2026-11-07 · 7 min read

Drawing for American food and bars in Singapore: the word BURGERS, a cheeseburger, an American football and a pint glass of beer.
American food in Singapore: a burger, a football and a pricey pint.

Singapore eats better than almost anywhere, and American comfort food is easy to find. What takes adjusting is the bar tab and watching football with your morning coffee.

The short version

  • American barbecue is well covered: Meatsmith on Telok Ayer Street and Smokey's BBQ in Joo Chiat both do ribs and brisket [1][2]. Two Men Bagel House handles New York-style bagels [3].
  • NFL Sunday games land on Monday morning in Singapore. The 2026 Super Bowl kicked off at 7:30 a.m. on a Monday here, and bars sold breakfast-buffet tickets for it [2][4].
  • US groceries turn up at Cold Storage, CS Fresh and Little Farms. US eggs returned to FairPrice shelves in 2026 at SGD 12.80 (about USD 10) a dozen [5][6].
  • For Thanksgiving, restaurants run turkey menus. In 2025, Time Out listed options from a SGD 38 lunch set to a SGD 268 roast-turkey dinner for four (about USD 30 to 210) [7].
  • A pint runs around SGD 12 (about USD 9.40) before happy hour, and closer to SGD 14 or 15 at some taprooms. Alcohol is heavily taxed here [8][9].

USD conversions use the Federal Reserve H.10 rate of October 30, 2026 (USD 1 = SGD 1.2776).

Where to get American food

Singapore's own food is the main event: hawker centers do a plate of chicken rice for less than a Starbucks latte back home. But when you need brisket, these places deliver.

Barbecue and smokehouses

  • Meatsmith Telok Ayer (167-169 Telok Ayer Street) does American barbecue with brisket and Cajun and Southern touches, and marked its 12th anniversary in 2026 [1].
  • Smokey's BBQ (73 Joo Chiat Place) is a neighborhood smokehouse in the east, known for ribs and brisket, and it doubles as a game-day spot [2].
  • Yardbird Southern Table and Bar is the Southern fried-chicken option, and it runs a Thanksgiving set menu [7].

Burgers, bagels and steak

  • Two Men Bagel House makes New York-style bagels and loaded bagel sandwiches, with outlets including Tanjong Pagar, Novena, Holland Village, Joo Chiat and Punggol [3].
  • Hard Rock Cafe Singapore (HPL House, 50 Cuscaden Road, off Orchard) is the burgers-and-classic-rock standby [2].
  • Wolfgang's Steakhouse and Luke's Oyster Bar & Chop House cover the New York steakhouse experience, at New York steakhouse prices [7].
  • Brewerkz at Riverside Point (30 Merchant Road) is an American-style craft brewery and grill on the river [4].

A heads-up on the menu: prices marked "++" add a service charge and 9% GST on top [10]. Budget roughly a fifth more than the printed number.

Watching the NFL, NBA and the Super Bowl

The time zone is the real opponent. Singapore is 13 hours ahead of New York in the northern winter and 12 hours ahead in summer, with no daylight saving time of its own. That puts a 1 p.m. Eastern NFL kickoff at 2 a.m. Monday (or 1 a.m. early in the season), and Sunday Night Football at about 9:20 a.m. Monday. NBA evening games fall in the Singapore morning, too.

So the American sports-bar scene here is a breakfast scene. For the Super Bowl in February 2026, several bars opened early [2][4]:

Venue Area What they did for the 2026 Super Bowl Price
Brewerkz Riverside Point Clarke Quay Ticketed screening, doors 6:30 a.m., breakfast buffet and free-flow coffee SGD 50++ (about USD 39); front-row seats SGD 65++ (about USD 51) with a pint [4]
Smokey's BBQ Joo Chiat Super Bowl package From SGD 60 nett (about USD 47) [2]
Hard Rock Cafe Orchard All-American breakfast buffet Not listed [2]
Lion Brewery Co Club Street Full American breakfast, live game Not listed [2]
Harry's Boat Quay Boat Quay Screening Not listed [2]

The listing that rounded these up advised calling ahead and noted you'll need to order food or drinks to hold your spot [2]. For regular-season games at 2 a.m., most people stream at home and catch replays; the Monday-morning windows (late games, playoffs, the Super Bowl) are when the bars fill up. Book Super Bowl tickets in January: Brewerkz offered an early-bird discount until January 9 in 2026 [4].

US groceries: what you can find

You won't find a Costco or a Trader Joe's, but you can stock a pantry. Cold Storage carries imported produce and international wines; its upscale sister CS Fresh has outlets at Raffles City and Paragon, and Little Farms focuses on natural and organic products at Tanglin Mall and Holland Village [5].

The news of 2026 for homesick bakers: US eggs are back. After a gap of about two decades, Contented Hen eggs from the US went on sale at more than 50 FairPrice Finest and FairPrice hypermarket stores, at SGD 12.80 a dozen for free-range and SGD 14.80 (about USD 11.60) for organic. Local and Malaysian eggs cost roughly SGD 2.85 to 4.55 (about USD 2.20 to 3.60) for ten [6]. Expect that kind of import premium on most American brands: cereal, peanut butter and maple syrup all cost more than at home.

Thanksgiving and the Fourth of July

Thanksgiving falls on Thursday, November 26, in 2026, a regular workday in Singapore. Most families either book a restaurant, order a cooked turkey, or move dinner to the weekend. Time Out's 2025 roundup gives a sense of the market [7]:

Option (2025) What you got Price
Meatsmith Dinner buffet, or a plated lunch set SGD 145 (about USD 115) buffet; SGD 38 (about USD 30) lunch
Little Farms, Tanglin Mall Thanksgiving dinner with whole roasted turkey, for four SGD 268 (about USD 210)
Yardbird Three-course set SGD 78 (about USD 61) per person
Luke's Oyster Bar & Chop House Family-style menu SGD 135 (about USD 106) per person
Wolfgang's Steakhouse Whole roasted turkey to order, 72 hours' notice From SGD 260 (about USD 204)

Prices for 2026 menus usually come out in early November. The American Association of Singapore also lists a Thanksgiving event for 2026 [11]. For the Fourth of July, watch the AAS calendar and the US Embassy's social channels, and if you're planning your own cookout at East Coast Park, remember that public drinking stops at 10:30 p.m. [12].

What drinking costs in Singapore

Sticker shock is real. Singapore taxes alcohol through customs and excise duties charged per liter of alcohol, then adds GST, and that shows up in every glass [10][13].

Drink Typical 2026 price
Pint at a regular bar Around SGD 12 (about USD 9.40) [8]
Pint at a craft taproom, full price SGD 14 to 15 (about USD 11 to 12) [9]
Happy-hour pint, CBD and Orchard Usually SGD 9 to 12 nett (about USD 7 to 9.40) [8]
Cocktail at a top bar From about SGD 22 to 31 (about USD 17 to 24) [14]
24 cans of Tiger at FairPrice About SGD 57 (about USD 45), or SGD 2.39 a can [8]

The ways to drink like a local:

  1. Learn the happy hours. Many bars knock SGD 3 or more off a glass in the late afternoon and early evening [9].
  2. Drink where the food is. Hawker centers and coffee shops often sell big bottles of local beer for well under bar prices.
  3. Buy at the supermarket. But stores stop selling take-out alcohol at 10:30 p.m., so plan the beer run [12].
  4. Use your duty-free allowance when you fly home from a trip. Singapore Customs sets the limits and conditions, so check its rules before you load up.

Our guide to Singapore laws covers the drinking-hours rules in detail. And when you want a recommendation for a burger that actually tastes like home, ask in our community group for Americans in Singapore.
